Councilor Christina J. Luman-Bailey, serving Ward 1, was elected as
Councilor in May 2006. Ward 1 incorporates much of the City Point part of
the city.
Councilor
Luman-Bailey was born in Washington, D.C. She completed her Bachelor
of Arts Degree from the College of William & Mary (where she was a member of
Phi Beta Kappa) and, her Masters Degree and her doctoral course
work at the University of Virginia, She received her certification in Civilization Studies from
the Sorbonne in Paris.
Councilor
Luman-Bailey has been an instructor/professor at the University of Virginia,
Randolph-Macon Woman’s College; and Director of Classes and President -
L’Alliance Française.
Her civic
affiliations include volunteer assistant for Heritage Gardens Children’s
Programs and volunteer FOLAR River cleanups. She is a Sunday School Teacher
and Children’s choir director. She was past Secretary of
the Appomattox Regional Library Board 2005-2006, and continues as a Trustee
on the ARLS Board since 2004.
Ms. Luman-Bailey
is married to Michael B. Bailey and has four children whom she home schools.
They reside in the City Point area of Hopewell.
