variety of other services including extensive in-person and telephone reference
services, Readers’ Advisory, children’s programs, musical concerts,
art exhibits, and lectures - all stimulating the intellect and senses of
library visitors.
A very unique, meaningful and inspiring architectural addition to downtown
Hopewell is the Hopewell Regional Library, the new headquarters of the Appomattox Regional Library System. A $7.9 million, 36,000-square-foot
construction project will incorporate uniquely designed features such as
a replica of the historic, 1600s-era frigate ship, Hopewell,
installed as a centerpiece within the Library. The children’s area
will feature a reading mezzanine, teen area, imaginative industrial smokestack
skylights and a cyber café.
The innovative additions to the Hopewell Library system will provide a creative
backdrop to the library’s role as a place where the community’s
ideas, culture and knowledge merge.
