Hopewell Recreation and Parks sponsors a variety of special events throughout the year. Generally, special events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. Please check out all of our upcoming events below for additional information.

 

Rockin’ on the River Concert Series  

For all ages. Join us on the Appomattox River for live entertainment and tons of fun! This family-friendly concert series is free and open to the public and features local bands playing a wide range of current hits and classics. Beverages and concessions will be sold on site. No outside food/drink or pets will be allowed inside the concert area. Parking is limited.

Fireworks on the Appomattox

The City of Hopewell will celebrate Independence Day in style with a dazzling fireworks display on the Appomattox River! Main viewing for the fireworks display is the rear parking area of the John Randolph Medical Center. Event parking is available in adjacent neighborhoods. There is no event parking at the hospital. The show is free and open to the public. Please read the FAQ below for additional information.

MOVIE NIGHTS!

Float-In Movie Nights  
FLOAT-IN-MOVIE

For all ages. Bring your float and come watch a fun movie for the whole family. We will offer light refreshments, as well as a seating area on deck for those who don’t want to get in the water. Children that cannot pass a swim test must be accompanied by an adult. Proper swimwear is required.
