About HPG Healthy Families
Hopewell-Prince George Healthy Families (HPGHF) was developed through the efforts of the Hopewell-Prince George Advocacy Coordination Team (ACT), John Randolph Medical Center and Prevention Services of District 19 Community Services Board. Members of the community planning group began meeting in 1997 to look at the needs of families in the City of Hopewell and the County of Prince George. Through this planning process the group decided to initiate a Healthy Families program. Development and initial implementation of the HPGHF program was made possible through funding from the John Randolph Foundation, John Randolph Medical Center and Family & Children’s Service of Richmond. All program staff were hired by January 1999 and services to the community were initiated in March 1999. Services were provided to first time mothers.
In 2011, Healthy Families expanded services to start serving all mothers who reside in Hopewell or Prince George.
