Hopewell’s Small Business Marketing Program

Program Purpose: Using funding provided by the CARES Act, the Hopewell Small Business Marketing Program has been established by the City of Hopewell in partnership with the Hopewell Downtown Partnership. It is our goal to provide our local business owners access to free marketing assistance. We have partnered with two local marketing firms for this program. Our marketing consultants will be available to provide program participants individual guidance in branding, digital and traditional advertising, social media executions, public relations, content writing, website development recommendations, signage recommendations, marketing planning, and overall customer outreach. The marketing consultants will work with the business owners in scheduling consultation times.

Program Timeline: Initial interviews and consultations will occur in December 2020, with marketing planning and additional consultations occurring within the first few months of 2021.

Business Eligibility: Businesses must have a brick & mortar location in the City of Hopewell, have a current & active City of Hopewell business license, and must have no more than 25 employees.

Application Process: The program capacity is 30 businesses. The first 30 eligible businesses who apply will be accepted into the program, so early applications are encouraged. Interested businesses are encouraged to attend one of the Zoom interest meetings on November 12th, at either noon or 7pm. This meeting will be recorded and uploaded to this website if businesses aren’t able to attend at either time.

The application will go live on this website on November 13, 2020 at 9AM. Applications will be due on November 20, 2020 at 11:59PM. *Note: City staff will not be available for application help after 4:30PM on Friday, November 20.*

Applicants will be notified of their application status by Wednesday, November 25th. Accepted applicants should be prepared to set some time aside for an initial meeting with the marketing firms and city staff on Tuesday, December 1st. When city staff notifies the accepted businesses of their acceptance, they will set up time for a 15-minute discussion on December 1st.

Marketing firms will work directly & individually with each business after December 1st on a schedule that is convenient for both parties. Each business should expect to receive at least 6 hours of individualized marketing consultations through this program.
