Tevya Williams Griffin has served as the Director of the Department of Development since November 2013. She has worked for the City of Hopewell for fourteen (14) years. When she first arrived she served as the Housing and Grants Coordinator, Administrator of the Community Development Block Grant. In 2006 she became the City Planner.
Mrs. Griffin received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VA Tech) in Public and Urban Affairs. She holds a Master’s of Arts Degree from the University of Maryland in Community Planning. Mrs. Griffin is a Certified Planner and a member of the American Planning Association. She enjoys historic preservation and urban design. She is from the beautiful Eastern Shore of Virginia and is most proud of her family, a supportive husband and three beautiful children.
