Major Bartley has over 25 years’ experience in law enforcement. She started her career in July of 1994 with the Newport News Police Department and has since served there in many capacities. She started her career as a patrol officer and after distinguishing herself as an outstanding officer, she was selected to serve on the Anti-Crime Task Force. Their mission was to engage in positive community interactions and address crime and disorder concern s. She later served as a detective in the Special Victims Unit until her promotion to supervisory level in 2004.
As a supervisor her assignments ranged from patrol, training, recruiting, internal affairs, overseeing major crimes bureau, accreditation manager and academy director. Among her many accomplishments was the creation of the Hampton Roads Regional Amber Alert Plan, involving 22 jurisdictions , for which was recognized by then Attorney General Jerry Kilgore. In 2011, she was selected to serve as a Fellow for the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) in Washington, DC. During that time, she published an article in PERF’s Subject to Debate Publication on Pharmacy Robberies.
Major Molly Bartley attended the Senior Management Inst it ut e for Police in Boston, a leadership program designed for tomorrow’s leader. In fact, she was selected to serve as the class coordinator for the 54th Session of SMIP; a testament of her leadership abilities.
