**Arrest made in Christopher Barron Homicide**
[Hopewell, VA]-On January 12, 2020, at approximately 8:26 P.M., officers of the uniformed patrol officer along with Emergency Medical Services responded to the 300 block of Ramsey Avenue for shots fired and an active disturbance. Upon arrival, officers along with Emergency Medical Services located an adult male inside the residence with life threatening injuries. Medical treatment was rendered at the scene and the victim was pronounced deceased by treating Emergency Medical Services.
The victim has been identified as Christopher Shawn Barron, Age 46 of the City of Hopewell. Members of the Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) responded to the scene and initiated an investigation of the matter. The decedent was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for autopsy to determine cause of death. The Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) is currently investigating this matter as a Death Investigation.
Update: On Friday, January 17, 2020, members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force arrested Nathaniel Romeo Arrington, Age 20 of the City of Hopewell without incident. Hopewell Police Department Criminal Investigation (CIU) obtained charges of Second Degree Murder (Felony) and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (Felony) charges on Mr. Arrington. Mr. Arrington was transported to Riverside Regional Jail and held without bond.
“The U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, of which the Hopewell Police Department is a member, has proven again to be a valuable asset in locating and apprehending fugitives”, said Chief of Police Kamran Afzal.
