Filing Deadlines for City of Hopewell Taxes
Hopewell, Va., – Debra Reason, Master Commissioner of the Revenue, has announced the 2021 filing deadlines for City of Hopewell taxes. Any resident of Hopewell who has changed their address and/or changed vehicles, or other personal property, is asked to notify the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the Commissioner of the Revenue. The deadline for filing Machinery & Tools tax is February 15, 2021. The Enterprise Zone Eligibility Application for Machinery & Tools tax is also due on February 15, 2021. City of Hopewell government offices will be closed on February 15, 2021 in observance of President’s Day. Applications and filings will be accepted on February 16, 2021 because of the office closings.
All businesses liable for a City of Hopewell Business License or a City of Hopewell ABC License must renew their license no later than March 1, 2021.
Applications for real estate/manufactured homes tax relief for the elderly (aged 65 and older) or disabled are due by April 1, 2021.
The deadline for filing Business Furniture & Fixtures and Manufactured Homes is May 1, 2021.
The City is now also accepting applications for Veteran’s Personal Property Relief and Real Estate Relief.

The Commissioner of the Revenue’s office is located in Hopewell City Hall, at 300 N Main Street, Room 100. Currently, the building is closed to the public except by appointment. Please schedule your appointment at www.hopewellva.gov. The Commissioner of the Revenue’s office hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm.
