**Homicide Investigation underway after holiday shooting**
[Hopewell, VA]-On November 28, 2019 at approximately 11:39 P.M., officers responded to the 1000 block of Sunnyside Avenue for a call for service of shots fired and an individual who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers along with Emergency Medical Services located a single adult female victim who had sustained serious gunshot related injuries. Medical treatment was rendered at the scene and the victim was transported to John Randolph Medical Center and then to VCU Medical Center for further treatment.
The victim identified as Ashley Nichole Berry, Age 33 of Chesterfield County. Ms. Berry was pronounced deceased by treating medical staff. Mr. Berry has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for autopsy. Members of the Hopewell Police Department Criminal Investigation subsequently initiated a homicide investigation.
A silver or gold in color SUV was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed after the shooting.
