**Hopewell City Leaders to Address Recent Violence in the Community**

Hopewell, VA-On December 6, 2019 at 4:00PM, the City of Hopewell, to include elected officials, City administration, and the law enforcement partners, will host a press conference to discuss the recent violent crimes in the community. The meeting will take place in the Hopewell Council Chambers located in the Municipal Building, 300 N. Main Street, Hopewell, Virginia 23860.

After the senseless killing of Richmond Fire Department Lieutenant Ashley Nichole Berry on Thanksgiving night, the community has continued to experience acts of violence. “This is a community issue, only when we work together can we prevent these acts of violence”, said Mayor Jasmine Gore.

The press conference is open to the public, and the community of Hopewell are encouraged to attend. The City Council will identify a path forward for the “Wonder City” to include on-going efforts undertaken by the City to improve the lives of the people we serve. Speakers will be available for questions following the press conference.
