Night in the Sky- Tele Glow Rave
Hopewell, VA. The City of Hopewell is currently partnering with the National City of Leagues to create a “Summer of Love” by asking residents to show why they love their city. Mayor Gore created the I Love Hopewell initiative. The goals of the initiative is to encourage civic engagement, uplift legacy cities, create communities for all generations, and to ensure housing for all.
Hopewell is expanding these goals by creating target areas that will promote community participation by involving citizens in various activities that will be hosted throughout the year. Recently, a competition was held within the City, “History with a Mystery”, which was a way the community could become an active participant in Hopewell’s history.
The competition was app based and participants were instructed to download the app. After downloading the app, there were clues given out over a specific time span. At the conclusion, this event was very successful. Currently, there is a video contest in progress – “I Love Hopewell Video Contest”. Submissions are currently open via this link.
We want the community to get creative in expressing why they love Hopewell. Using anything from landmarks, parks, stores, and even people. On September 21, 2019 the City will host “Night in the Sky” stargazing event. The purpose of this event is to educate citizens and all who would like to learn more about the planets, stars, moon, and nebulas.
Terry Barker with the Richmond Astrological Society will be sponsoring this event. The City encourages all citizens to come out and attend this worthwhile event.
It will be a wonderful event for children and parents alike. Following the stargazing, there will be a Tele Glow Rave. DJ DO ALL will be providing the latest music for children to enjoy.
In addition, there will be a variety of glow sticks given to all children who attend the event. The event will be held at the Hopewell River Walk from 8: 00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
