Hopewell, VA—The Hopewell Downtown Partnership in conjunction with the Hopewell-Prince George Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Small Business Saturday Headquarters at Guncotton Coffee and Gallery in Downtown Hopewell!

Shop small in Hopewell on Saturday, November 24th from 9AM-3PM to receive free Shop Small merchandise and for a chance to win prizes from our local Hopewell businesses! Bring a receipt dated Monday, November 19th, 2018-Saturday, November 24th, 2018 from any locally-owned Hopewell business to our Small Business Saturday Headquarters to receive your free merchandise! The free Shop Small merchandise includes tote bags, stickers and pens. Free merchandise is limited, and offered on a first come, first served basis.

According to the Small Business Economic Impact Study, commissioned by American Express, if small businesses in the United States were a country, they would have a GDP of $4.8 trillion, equivalent to the GDP of Japan, the third largest country in the world!

The Small Business Economic Impact Study also found that for every $1 spent at a local business, 67¢ stays in the local community. 44¢ goes to the local business owner and local employee wages, while 23¢ gets reinvested in other local businesses.

According to the 2018 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey, conducted by the National Federation of Independent Businesses and American Express, 83% of consumers plan to do a portion of their holiday shopping at a small, independently-owned retailer or restaurant.

On Small Business Saturday and throughout the holiday shopping season, make sure to visit some of Hopewell’s unique makers, including: Burnette’s Baked Goods, Legacy Roasting Company, Appomattox River Peanut Company, Creative Friends Art Center, Gardener’s Gate, Little Shops on Main and the newly opened Haley’s Honey Meadery. Don’t forget to shop Hopewell’s assortment of antique and specialty shops, including: The Carousel, Bobby’s Antiques, You Got A Deal, Randolph Market, Heretick Feed & Seed, McKay’s Hardware and many others!

If you work up an appetite while shopping on Small Business Saturday, stop our “Thanks a Brunch” offered by Verde at Guncotton Coffee from 9:30am-2:00pm! Verde’s brunch menu features six entrees, including vegan and gluten-free choices, just for Small Business Saturday! The full Thanks a Brunch menu and more information can be found on Verde’s Facebook page. You can also head over to the newly renovated Saucy’s BBQ for delicious BBQ, or Lisa’s Café for homemade soups, salads and sandwiches.

The Hopewell Downtown Partnership and the Hopewell-Prince George Chamber of Commerce encourage you to Shop Small on Small Business Saturday November, 24th, 2018! By supporting your local businesses, you’re also supporting your community. Remember to Think Big and Shop Small!
