**Update- Death Investigation- 200 block South 18th Avenue **
[Hopewell, VA] – On September 6, 2019, Hopewell Police Department Investigators received preliminary results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) autopsy to determine cause of death. According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME), the death of the juvenile appears to be medical. No signs of trauma, abuse, or neglect. Victim’s mother confirmed the child suffered from heart related complications. The Hopewell Police Departments investigation is ongoing.

**Death Investigation – 200 block South 18th Avenue underway**
On September 4, 2019 at approximately 2:50 P.M., officers of the Uniformed Patrol Division (UPD) along with Emergency Medical Services responded to the 200 block of South 18th Avenue for an unresponsive female. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive juvenile female deceased. Emergency medical personnel determined the female was deceased. Members of the Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) responded to the scene and initiated an investigation of the matter. The decedent was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for autopsy to determine cause of death. The Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) is currently investigating this matter as a Death Investigation. The identity of the decedent is not being released pending notification of the family members. Further information/updates will be released as they become available.
