PRESS RELEASE – Woodlawn Learning Center Fall Community Garden Kickoff – September 7, 2019
“Unconditional Selfless Service at the point of Need!” This is the underlying motto of the Liberty Chapel Gospel Service (LCGS) at Fort Lee, Virginia. The LCGS Men’s Ministry, in concert with the Fort Lee Tri-Cities Men’s Ministry Outreach, has been on a mission for the past 8 plus years through the auspices of sponsoring and managing a highly productive Community Garden in the local community.
On 7 September 2019, volunteers from the LCGS Men’s Ministry, in coordination with the Fort Lee Tri-Cities Men’s Ministry Outreach and the Woodlawn Learning Center (Hopewell Public Schools), will host its annual Woodlawn Learning Center (WLC) Community Fall garden planting kickoff with an estimated 40-50 personnel (youth and adults) committed thus far to being in attendance and actively participating in this exceptional community-wide teambuilding event. Specifically, this event will take place in Hopewell, VA at the Woodlawn Learning Center Complex surrounding area (1100 Dinwiddie Avenue). The WLC Community Fall vegetable garden, approximately one acre in size, serves as a prominent food-generating source for the surrounding community producing collars, mixed greens (turnips, spinach, kale, etc.) and broccoli.
This year’s fall garden is receiving assistance and support from Capitol One and continues to receive outstanding support from the Heretick Feed and Seed Store in Hopewell. Planting activities will start at 8:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Woodlawn Learning Center in Hopewell. Refreshments will be served. This is event is open to public! All are welcomed!
