Jackie Shornak – Committee Chair
Jackie Shornak was born in Conway, S.C. and moved to Hopewell at the age of 2. Mrs. Shornak attended Hopewell Public Schools and graduated in 1969. From there, she attended the American Institute for Foreign Study and studied art history abroad. She is married, has a one daughter, and is blessed with three grandchildren. Her professional career has been in the legal field for over 35 years in the many facets of law. She now primarily works as an environmental and municipal finance paralegal. She has volunteered and served on numerous non-profit organizations and boards throughout her lifetime. Mrs. Shornak is a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church and has participated in two Mission trips to Nicaragua. In July 2010 to December 31, 2018, she served as City Councilor for Ward 7, and as Mayor. She has been an advocate for public safety, education open government and cleaning up the environment. It is her goal to engage citizens and promote volunteerism in an effort to make a difference by helping those in need. She is honored to be serving as Chair of the Chief Advisory Committee and is committed on focusing on making Hopewell a safe and healthy environment to live, work and visit.
