Third Thursday’s Open Air Marketplace Events are Back!

Hopewell, VA – The Hopewell Downtown Partnership is excited to bring back their Third Thursday’s Open Air Marketplace for a second season!  The Third Thursday’s Open Air Marketplace events are a unique monthly event featuring the best of a farmers’ market and a festival.  It will include live music, craft beer, food trucks, kid’s activities, art programming and many vendors.

The event will take place every third Thursday from 5:30 to 8:30pm starting May 17th.  Local band Magnolia will perform for the first event in May, followed by the Donnie Barber Project on June 21st. The rest of the live music line-up is as follows: the Jangling Reinharts on July 19th, Bethany Gates & Nick Faulconer on August 16th, South of James on September 20th, and Big Boss Man on October 18th.

There will be 30+ vendors and food trucks at each Third Thursday event. These events are a true marketplace, where event goers will be able to get their fresh and locally grown produce, honey, meat, eggs, potted plants, canned goods, baked goods and other products as well as enjoying the lively atmosphere of a festival. Please check our website: for a complete list of attending vendors.

“With several new businesses open downtown including a local coffee shop, coffee roaster, pie shop, and BBQ restaurant, we really wanted something that would activate the downtown, provide for a place of community socialization and interaction, and help new as well as existing businesses in the district,” says Evan Kaufman, Executive Director of the Downtown Partnership. “There are several other businesses under construction now that will open this year helping to create a vibrant downtown district for the Hopewell and surrounding community.”

The Hopewell Downtown Partnership’s events are sponsored by a variety of local and regional businesses including: CSX Corporation, Columbia Gas of Virginia, Caremore Richmond, Dominion Energy, Trapezium and Beale’s Brewing Companies, Parr & Abernathy Realty, The Boathouse at City Point, JES Foundation, Ellis Family Dentistry, Insulation Specialties Inc., and John Randolph Medical Center.
