Purpose
Per Chapter 38 of the City Code, there shall be a youth services commission established, s appointed by city council. Membership is fifteen (15). Each member shall be a resident of, or employed in, the city or shall be responsible for the provision of services to the youth of Hopewell. The youth services commission shall include in its membership, whenever possible, at least one (1) member each with experience in the fields of business, law, medicine, education, the juvenile justice system, and youth services; at least one (1) member of the Hopewell City Council; at least one (1) member below the age of eighteen (18); representatives of public and private agencies serving youth; and private citizens not employed by government or service agencies. A majority of the members of the commission shall be citizens who are not employed by government or service agencies and who are not elected government officials. Student members shall qualify as citizen members.
